Sunday walks, no destination
For a while my Sundays disappeared into a screen. Nothing dramatic, just the sense of having spent a day without having been anywhere.
The rule
One hour on foot, no destination, phone in a pocket and not in my hand. If I want to take a photo I can, but I do not scroll and I do not check anything.
What changed
The first few weeks I felt restless. After that I started to notice small things: a shop that changed its window, a tree that had finally lost its leaves, how the same street looks different at four in the afternoon than at noon.
I walk roughly the same loop every time. It sounds dull, but familiarity is what makes the small changes visible. A new route gives you novelty and nothing else.
What I take back
Usually an idea I did not go looking for, or a problem that looks smaller than it did in the morning. I write a line about it in the evening notebook and that is the end of it.
It is not a system and I do not track it. If I miss a Sunday, nothing breaks. I go the week after.
